|This Indenture Made the 2nd day of May in the Year of Our Lord Christ 1786 Between William Hunt esqr. Sherriff of the County of Granville of the one part & Micajah Bullock esqr. of the other part whereas by a certain fieri facias as--id out of the inferior Court of pleas & Quarter Sessions for the County of Granville aforesaid bearing Teste Reuben Searcy Clerk of the inferior Court aforesaid & dated the 6th day of November the Sherriff is as commanded that of the goods & chattels lands & Tenements of William Thomas he shall cause to be made the sum of One Hundred & Seventy One pounds which Phillip Vassin the sd. inferior Court of please &c had Recorded against the sd. William Thomas as also the Sum of three pounds 13/8 by them in the Suit against the sd. William Thomas expended besides the fees dues & acruing to the sherif for executing of the sd. Writ firi facias whereof the sd. William Thomas was convicted as appears of Record & that the sd. Sherriff should have the sd. sum before the Justices of the Next inferior Court of please &c to be held at the Courthouse in Granville on the first Monday in May Next following to Render to the sd. Phillip Vass for his debt & cost aforesaid & that he should have there the sd. Writ as by the sd. Writ of firi facias & Judgmt. therein reffered to now Remaining of Record in the inferior Court aforesaid Reference being thereto had my more fully appear & --- recorded (to wit,
on the 6th day of February in the Year of Our Lord 1786 the sd. William Hunt then being Sherriff of the sd. County of Granville aforesaid by Virtue of the sd. Writ of fieri facias & before the Return of the same lived on & took in Execution & possession the land of the sd. William Thomas Containing One Hundred & Seventy Acres & bounded as follows (to wit,
Begining at a hickory on the bank of Tar River Runing east 102 poles to a Center of two pines & a hickory thence North 130 poles to a White oak thence West 162 poles to a red oak & pine thence North 44 poles to a pine in Nolands line thence by his line West 118 poles to a White oak on the bank of the sd. River thence down its Meanders to the begining
there being no asset of the sd. William Thomas to be found in the Baliwick of the sd. County aforesaid and after publishing the time & place of disposing of the sd. Land according to the direction of the Act of assembly in that case made & provided the sd. William Hunt being Sherriff of the sd. County of Granville, to wit, on the 6th day of February the Year aforesaid did sell the sd. land at publick Auction to the sd. Micajah Bullock for the price of twenty Shillings & 0/0 the sd. Micajah Bullock being the highest bidder for the same
Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the sd. William Hunt Sherriff of the County of Granville aforesaid in Virtue of the sd. Writ of fieri facias & by force of the Act of Assembly in such cases made & provided as also for & in Consideration of the sum of Twenty Six Shillings and 0/0 paid to the sd. Sherriff by the sd. Micajah Bullock for the use & purpose in the sd. Writ of fieri facias mentioned the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargain & sold Released & confirm by these presents doth grant bargain & sell Release & Confirm to the sd. Micajah Bullock his heirs & assigns forever the aforesaid land Containing One Hundred & Twenty acres & bounded as herein before Recited with appurtenances & the Revision and Revisions Remainder & Remainders Rents issues & profits thereof & all the Rights & titles interest claims ---- and estate whatsoever which the sd. William Thomas had or have had of in unto the sd. One Hundred & twenty acres of land within the appurtenances & every part thereof at the time the sd. land was Seized & taken inspection by the sd. William Hunt the Sheriff aforesaid.
To have & to hold the sd. tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances unto the sd. Micajah Bullock his heirs & assigns forever to the only proper use & behoof of the sd. Micajah Bullock his heirs forever & to & for no other use interest or purpose whatsoever. In Witness whereof the sd. William Hunt hath hereunto set his hand & afixed his Seal the day & Year above Written.
