A deed of conveyance from Saml A. McKenzie to Washington Ballard for 50 acres of Land in the Hiwassee District on Pond Creek. This Indenture made the thirteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six by and between Saml. A. McKenzie of Roane County and State of Tennessee of the first part and Washington Ballard of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Saml. A. McKenzie for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doath grant bargain and sell unto the said Washington Ballard his heirs &c. a certian tract or parcel Land situate Lying and being in the county of Roane on the waters of Pond Creek and ajoining Lands with John Scleridge on the south James Taylor on the north and William Ballard on the East Begining and comencing on a hickory on William Ballards line near the head of Rock spring west to the James Scleridge line thence with the said line to James Taylors line thence with said line to a oake in the lane thence to a white oake on the branch thence with the meanders of said Branch to a White oak stump thence to a stooping hickory on Wm. Ballards line thence with said line to the begining containing fifty acres more or less being the same whereon said Ballard now lives and lately purchased By said McKenzie [...] Together with all and singularly the appertenances hereditaments thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and all the estate right title Interest claim and demand Whatever of him the said Saml. A. McKenzie of in and to the said Land and every part and parcel thereof; To have and to hold the said Land and premises above mentioned, and every part and parcel thereof with the appertainencs unto the said Washington Ballard his heirs &c. forever and the said Samuel for himself his heirs and assigns &c the said Lands and premises and every part and parcel thereof against himself his heirs &c. and all and every other person or persons Whatsoever will warrant and forever defend to the said Washington Ballard his heirs &c.
