John Hill To Richd. Berry } Deed State of South Carolina Edgefield District  Know all men by these presents that I John Hill Sen. of the State and District aforesaid in Consideration of the Sum of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Richard Berry of the said State and District have Granted bargained sold and Released and by these presents do Grant bargain Sell and Release unto the said Richard Berry   all that plantation or Tract of Land Containing five hundred acres it being part of a Tract Containing one thousand Granted to myself the fifth Day of May 1788 situate in said District on a branch of Mountain Creek beginning at a red oak corner and Running to a pine corner thence to sweet Gum Corner thence up a Branch N 85 W to a post oak corner thence S 15 W 40 Chain to a post corner thence S 58 E 21 and to a Red oad thence S 76 E 86 chain a stake thence N 10 W 55 Chain 50 links to a pine corner thence N 75 E to a Shanesh oak thence to the Begining. Together with all and Singular Rights members hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premeses belonging or in any wise incedent or appertaining. To have and To hold all and Singular the premeses before mentioned unto the said Richard Berry his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby Bind myself my heirs Executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and Singular the said premises unto the said Richard Berry his heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs and against every person or persons whomsoever Lawfully claiming or to claim the Same or any part Thereof Witness my hand and Seal this Eighteenth Day of February and in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Seven and in the Thirty first year of the Independence of the United States of America.    John his H mark Hill (seal) Signed and acknowledged in the Presence of  Abner Blocker  Bartlen Blocker The State of South Carolina Edgefield District I John Lyon one of the Justices of the Quorum do hereby certify unto all whom it may concern that Jane Hill the wife of the within named John Hill did this Day appear before me and upon being privately and Separately Examined by me did declare that she does freely voluntarily and without any compulsion Dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever Renounce Release and forever Relinquish unto the within named Richard Berry his heirs and assigns all her Interest and Estate also all her Right and Claim of Dower of in or to all and Singular the premeses within mentioned and Released Given under my hand and Seal this Twenty Sixth Day of March anno Domini one thousand Eight hundred and Seven    Jane her H mark Hill (seal)  John Lyon J.Q.
