In the name of God, Amen, I, Joseph Pipkin, of the State of North Carolina and County of Wayne, being of a sound perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to Almighty God for the same, but calling to mind the mortality of my body knowing it is appointed for all mankind to die, do constitute, make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in the following manner: Principally and first of all, I give and commend my soul into the hands of God that gave it me, my body, I recommend to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named but as concerning such worldly estate as it hath been pleased God of his mercy to bless me within this life I do give and dispose of the same in the following manner: First, my wish and desire is that all my just debts and funeral charges be cleared and discharged and after that my will and desire is that my wife, Susanna Pipkin shall have four negroes, to wit, Nero, Dinah --- and Priscillah Galloway during her natural life and after decease, my will and desire is that Nero and Galloway be given to my son, Elisha Pipkin, his heirs and assigns forever. I likewise give and bequeath to my beloved wife one bay horse, three feather beds and furniture and likewise, one desk and all the rest of my household furniture to be at her own disposal. Item...I do give and bequeath to my son, Willis Pipkin, two negroes after my wife's decease, by the names of Dinah and Priscillah and also two others by the names of Cesar J Limback and young Rose and also five hundred acres of land lying on the north side of Falling Creek and both sides of Kelly's Branch and likewise three hundred acres more lying and being in the County aforesaid joining the above mentioned and also another tract of six hundred and forty acres on the north side of the upper branch of Falling Creek and likewise eighty acres more by the name of Rainsey's Place to him and his heirs forever Item...I do give and bequeath to my son Elisha Pipkin, The Manor Plantation where now I dwell containing two hundred acres, also twenty acres more adjoining the Plantation purchased from James Rhodes and likewise two hundred acres more joining the Plantation patented by myself and also two hundred fifty nine acres more joining the above mentioned patented by myself and likewise one hundred and ten acres of land joining William Rhodes lines and likewise three hundred acres joining his own lines. I also give to him my said son, one negro man named Old Ben and his wife named Viny and her increase to him and his heirs forever. And likewise a negro man called Jack and his wife named Rose, a negro girl named Dinah and a negro boy named Simon to him and his heirs forever Item...I do give and bequeath to my daughter, Mildred Jernigan, three negroes to wit, Tom, and Philip and one negro girl by the name of Betsy, to her and heirs forever Item...I do give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary Craddick one negro boy named Bussel to her and her heirs forever Item...I do give and bequeath to my daughter, Susanna Beck, three negroes, Viz  Phillis, Saxoney, Jude, and likewise another negro girl by the name of Olive, to her and her heirs forever Item...I do give and bequeath to my daughter, Nancy Rhodes, one negro girl names Vinah to her and her heirs forever, and one negro woman by the name of Doll, and one negro girl by the name of Penny and all the increase belonging to Doll for her and her heirs forever I likewise leave to my son, Elisha Pipkin, a tract of land containing one hundred and seventy acres joining his own lines and also one hundred and fifty acres more known by the name of Kellys Place Item...I do give and bequeath to my son-in-law, Lewis McCullen the sum of five pounds species to be raised our of my estate I likewise leave to my daughter, Mary Craddick, a negro woman named Ester and her increase and all the rest of my estate that I haven't yet mentioned my desire is that my Executors here after named, put the same into lots and my children to draw from them, I likewise appoint my son, Elisha Pipkin, my son-in-law, David Jernigan and my son-in-law, John Beck, Executors to this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly revoke, disannul and make void all and any other former Will or Wills here-to-fore by me made, Ratifying and confirming this  and no other to be my last Will and testament. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and fast my Seal this 19th day of January in the thirteenth year of American Independancy and in the year of Our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and Eight Nine    Joseph Pipkin  (Seal) Signed, sealed, declared and pronounced by the Testator as his last and Testament in presence of us who in his presence and the presence of each other have hereininto, subscribed our names:  Joseph K Slocumb  Wm Bizzell  Moses Jones State of North Carolina at a County Court of Pleas & quarter session begun and held for the County of Wayne at the Court House in Waynesborough on the Second monday in April being the Thirteenth day in the thirteenth year of our Independance Anno Dom 1789. The last will and testament of Joseph Pipkin late of Wayne County deceased was proved in open Court by the oath of William Bizzell a subscribing witness thereto. John Beck and Elisha Pipkin executors mentioned in the said will came into Court and qualified agreeable to Law ordered that the same be recorded and that letters Testamentary issue accordingly. John Beck and Elisha Pipkin executor to the last will and Testament of Joseph Pipkin late of Wayne County deceased returned an Inventory of the estate of the said deceased Ordered the same be recorded.
