January the 15th 1829
Georgia Pike Couty } This Indenture made this the 3rd day of January Eighteen hundred and Twenty nine between Samuel M. Shipp of the State & County of the one part and Lanky T. Johnson of the Same State County of Troup of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Samuel M. Shipp hath this day made and delivered unto the said Lanky T. Johnson his Certain promissory note bearing in date with these presents for one hundred & Eighty Six dollars & 95 Cents Whereby the said Samuel M. Shipp promised to pay the said Lanky T. or heirs, due the Twenty fifth Decr. 1829. Now for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars by the said Lanky T. Johnson to the said Samuel M. Shipp in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged as well as for the better securing the payment of the aforesaid promissory note the said Samuel M. hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the said Lanky T. Johnson his heirs and assigns all that Tract or Parcel of Land Situate Lying and being in the Eighth (8th) District of originally Monroe now Pike & Known & distinguished by Lot Number one hundred & ninety seven (197).
