This Indenture made this Sixteenth Day of the Eight Month called october anno Domini one thousand Seven hundred & Fifty Between peter Stedham of the Hundred of Newcastle in the County of newcastle upon Delaware yeoman and Isabella his wife, and Jonas Stedham of the Said hundred of new castle yeoman and John Jaqual of the Said hundred of newcastle yeoman and Christiana his wife and John Walraven of the Hundred of Christiana and said county of new castle and said county yeoman & Sarah his wife and alexander porter of the sd. Hundred of Newcastle & Elizabeth his wife and Engberg Stedham of the sd. hundred of Newcastle Spinster and Joseph Scull of the city of philadelphia yeoman & mary his wife on the one part and peter Sedge fredrick Alricks of the hundred & County of newcastle afsd. yeoman on the other part.

Whereas by virtue of a patent from Francis Lovelace late governor of York dated the 3rd day of may 1671 one Dr. Tymen Stedham became Lawfully Siezed of a Certain Tract of Land & thereof Scituate in the sd. County of newcastle.

Whereas the sd. Dr. Tymen Stedham by his last will & Testament in writing dated the 1st of February 1686 devised in these words (viz) & as to the Land with its appurtenances the Same Shall be my Children Equally & enjoyed except my Daughter Eneberg who shall have for her share one young Steer & one Cow & afterwards dyed So Siezed Leaving to Survive him nine Children viz Luloffe, Lucas, ashmund, adam, Benjamin, Elizabeth, mary, Magdalene, & Eneberg &

Whereas his Son Luloffe being So Siezed of the undivided one eighth part of the sd. Land by his Last will & Testament in writing dated the 1st of may 1704 devised the sd. share to his two sons Timothy & Luloffe to be equally shared between them &

Whereas the last mentioned Luloffe Stedham by his Deed dated the eighth day of may 1725 ffor valluable considerations granted -- his sd. Share to his brother Timothy Stedham his heirs & assigns ffor ever &

Whereas martin Knudson & mary his wife Daughter of the sd. Dr. Tymen Stedham by their Deed dated the 1st of august 1717 ffor valluable considerations granted & relinquish the sd. Marys Share of the sd. Lands unto the Said Timothy Stedham & his heirs & assigns ffor ever &

Whereas peter anderson & Magdalene his wife another Daughter of the sd. Dr. Tymen Stedham by their Deed dated the 10th of august 1717 & recorded at Newcastle in Book G page 277 ffor valluable Considerations Granted all & Singular the sd. Magdalene's Share of the sd. Lands unto the sd. Timothy Stedham his heirs & assigns for ever &

Whereas Lucas Stedham another Son of the sd. Dr. Tymen Stedham having purchased of his Sister Elizabeth above named all her share of the sd. Lands by his Deed dated the 3rd of August 1717 ffor valluable considerations granted the sd. purchased Share unto the Sd. Timothy Stedham his heirs & assigns fforever and by another Deed of the sd. 3rd of August 1717 ffor valuable considerations Granted all that ------ Share of the sd. land unto the sd. Timothy Stedham & his heirs & assigns ffor ever.

By all which the said Timothy Stedham became rightfully Siezed of the undivided ffive shares of the said Land &

Whereas by an agreement between the sd. Timothy Stedham and Erasmus Stedham son of the aforementioned Ashmund Stedham possessor of the other three Shares the sd. Land ----- ----- ---divided by due metes & bounds as by one Indenture of Release under the hands & seals of the sd. Erasmus Stedham & Christiana his wife & dated the 26th of april 1738 & recorded in the rolls office in Book M page 27 &c may a----- & ----- ---- Daughters of the said ashmund Stedham or their heirs at Law by their Several Indentures of Release ------- with the sd. Timothy Stedham & his heirs & assigns for ever all & Singular the said ffive Shares of Land according to the sd. Division &

[1/10/1740: Samuel & Ann Scott sold ¼ interest in mill lands to Thomas West.]
[Thomas West died intestate with children: Thomas, William, Joseph, Rachel, Eleanor, & Elizabeth.]
[5/18/1746: Heirs of Thomas West (Thomas & Susannah West, William & Mary West, John & Rachel Staples, James & Eleanor Robinson, & Joseph & Elizabeth West) to Lucas Stedham.]
[6/4/1743, O/101: Samuel & Ann Scott sold ¼ interest to Lucas Stedham.]
[Lucas Stedham, owner of ½ interest, died intestate with children: Peter, Jonas, Christiania wife of John Jaquel, Susannah wife of Peter Sedge ffredrick Aldricks, Mary wife of Joseph Scull, Sarah wife of John Walraven, Elizabeth wife of Alexander Porter, and Ineberg Stedham.]

now this Indenture witnesseth that the ... Isabella his wife & Jonas Stedham & John Jaquat & Christiania his wife & John Walraven & Sarah his wife & alexander porter & Elizabeth his wife & Ineberg Stedham and Joseph Scull & Mary his wife ffor & in Consideration of the sum of Five hundred and Fifty pounds lawfull currant money of this Government to them in hand paid at or before the Ensealing & delivery of these presents by the Said Peter Sedge ffredrick alricks the Receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and themselves thereunto are satisfyed contented & paid & thereof & of every part & parcel thereof do Release acquit Exonerate & ffor ever discharge the said peter Sedge ffredrick alrick his heirs & assigns by these presents have Granted Bargained Sold Released aliened Enfeoffed & Confirmed & by these presents do Grant, Bargain, Sell, Release alien Enfeofe & confirm unto the sd. peter Sedge fredrick alrick & his heirs & assigns all & Singular the Said Recited & above mentioned undivided one half part of the Said Recited & described piece of Land called the mill Lands as they are above Described by due Course & distance & confirming by Estimation two acres & fifty perches be it more or Less.

Together with all & Singular ... To have & to hold ... In Witness whereof the sd. parties to these presents Interchangeably have set their hands & Seals the day and date first above Written.
