Joseph Ray to John Davis } Deed of Conveyance } State of South Carolina Spartanburgh District.
 Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Ray of the state & district aforesaid for and in consideration of one Thousand Dollars to me in hand paid by John Davis of the district aforesaid I Joseph Ray have granted bargained sold & released & by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said John Davis a certain plantation or tract of land where I now live on both sides of Black Stocks road in the State & district aforesaid

begining at a Stake on the East side of Dutchmans Creek Thence running S 60 W 44.00 to a stake on the west side of Black Stocks road thence running N 30 W 4500. to a Black Jack Thence running N 60 E 48.00 to a Post oak Thence S 12.20 to a Post oak Thence N 86 ½ E to a maple thence S 9.50 to a water oak Thence S 28 E 24.33 to the begining Corner Containing Two Hundred & one Acres more or less

Together with all & singular the rights Members Herditaments & appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appurtaining. To Have & To Hold ... Witness my hand & seal this nineteenth day of September in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Forth Three And in the Sixty Eight year of the Independance of the United States of America.

South Carolina Union District } I John Gibbs one of the magistrates for said district do certify unto all whom it may concern that Sarah Ray wife of the within named Joseph Ray did this day appear before me ... this 23rd November 1843.
