Note for Talitha Countiss Death
Dr. T. L. Ballenger writes of his grandmother thus: "Grandmother Ray, mother's mother, made her home with us after the death of her husband. She attended school very little but was thoroughly self-educated, especially in reading, spelling and the correct use of words. She helped me a great deal in Language and etymology even after I had been in college a year or two. She also exercised much influence in moulding my cultural and religious ideals."

Dr. Ballenger gives Talitha Countiss's date of death as 1904 and states that she died while living in the home of her daughter, Narcissia (Dr. Ballenger's mother), in Rover, Arkansas. She was buried in a cemetery there in Rover.
